1. Toothaches<\/h4>\n

If you are experiencing toothache the best thing you can do to reduce the pain is use cold compression and take over-the-counter medication such as paracetamol or ibuprofen. Another toothache remedy is bonjela, it has been used for years to reduce pain and is especially good for ulcer pains. If you experience a continuous toothache, pulsating pain or swelling it is best to visit your dentist urgently. If you have an infection your dentist may prescribe antibiotics to control it.<\/p>\n

2. Missing teeth<\/h4>\n

If your tooth has just fallen out it can be incredibly alarming and painful. The good news is that for some people the tooth can be put back in, I know, crazy! If your tooth falls out, place your tooth in milk; if you don\u2019t have access to milk opt for water with a pinch of salt, or saliva. The next step is quickly getting to a dentist to help you. 3. Broken tooth<\/h4>\n

Do you have a painful broken tooth or even a chipped tooth? They can be incredibly painful and sensitive. Cold compression is a great way to prevent severe swelling and can reduce pain. If you are in severe pain counter medication is worth taking. You must get in touch with your dentist to get looked at as soon as possible, as exposed nerves can create lasting sensitivity and damage. You must keep your mouth incredibly clean during this time and eat soft foods.<\/p>\n

4. Broken braces<\/h4>\n

One of the biggest issues with fixed, wire braces is the breakage that can occur. If you experience your wire or brackets break it can impact daily life, especially eating but also the progress of your treatment. If you are unable to reattach the brackets or wires you must get in contact with your dentist. If a wire is exposed you can cover it with orthodontic wax, a cotton ball or gauze. Ensure it is attached enough that you do not swallow. Although it may be tempting to cut the wire, please avoid doing this as it can lead to you swallowing part of your braces.<\/p>\n

5. Crowns and fillings that have fallen out<\/h4>\n

Crowns often require a lot of preparation to be put onto your teeth so it can be very uncomfortable and sensitive if your crown falls off, this is very similar to a filling. It\u2019s important to keep your mouth clean in this circumstance. If your crown has fallen off in one, it is advised to keep it safe and take it to the dentist with you. If you are in pain a cold compress may help to reduce swelling, and over-the-counter medication may help to reduce pain. I recommend you speak to your dentist as soon as this happens, especially if you are in pain.<\/p>\n

6. Abscess<\/h4>\n

A dental abscess can be incredibly painful, an abscess will have excessive swelling, and if you check your gum you\u2019ll likely find a spot-like lump. You need to visit the dentist immediately if this has occurred. In the meantime, we recommend taking over-the-counter medication and using a cold compress.<\/p>\n

7. Excessive bleeding<\/h4>\n

Bleeding after dental treatment can be normal, but if you are experiencing bleeding that does not stop quickly or bleeding without a reason, we strongly advise that you speak to your dentist quickly. This is the case with tooth extraction; always get a second opinion from your dentist if you are worried.<\/p>\n
